Visual Impairment Awareness Day

 

In partnership with The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC), Visualise Training and Consultancy are holding a Visual Impairment Awareness day to build confidence and empower you to support your customers with visual impairments.

You will tour the college and experience how the UK’s leading specialist college for people with  visual impairments, empowers it’s students to gain independence and employment opportunities. We will be joined by current RNC students to talk about their personal sight loss journeys, ambitions and experiences of accessing mainstream services.

The day will be insightful and interactive to inspire, educate and leave you motivated to drive

inclusion and change within your organisation.

The day will be split into 2 sessions.

Morning Training Session

You will gain an understanding of:

• How to safely guide a person with a visual impairment

• Emotional Impact of sight loss

• Appropriate language and effective communication

• Reasonable adjustments in compliance with the Equality Act 2010

• The importance of eye health care

Afternoon Tour of College

You will gain an understanding of:

• RNC’s individually tailored academic and vocational programmes

• Additional specialist support and advice available: mobility, daily living skills, braille, ICT and assistive

technology

• The RNC’s role in aiding the successful transition to mainstream education and employment/self-employment opportunities
