1-1 Assistive Technology Training

What is Assistive Technology (AT)?

Assistive technology is a generic term for assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities; it is also about the processes of selecting, locating, and using them.

Assistive technology promotes greater independence by enabling people with disabilities to perform tasks they were formerly unable to – or had great difficulty – accomplishing.

Assitive Technology TrainingVisualise offers one-to-one specialist Assistive Technology training on the following assistive technology software and devices:

  • Zoomtext Magnifier/Reader
  • Supernova Magnifier/Reader
  • Dragon dictate
  • Texthelp
  • iPhone/iPad accessibility training
  • Mac accessibility training
  • Jaws

We work with your visually impaired or dyslexic employees to familiarise them with, and teach them, how to get the most from assistive technology software. Our experienced trainers will establish exactly what programmes best suit their needs, and tailor functionalities they will be using on a daily basis.

Our trainers can visit clients at home, work, school, or college. We also provide remote training on all of the above specialist software.

Funding

Assistive Technology Training is usually funded through the Disabled Students’ Allowance or Access to Work, but a percentage of clients choose to pay privately for this service.
